New Updates to Facebook Cover Pictures

Facebook have introduced new rules for business fan pages, specifically for their cover picture and also for images that are promoted through their promote posts feature.

While the old rules still apply there are a few new ones that you must comply with. Facebook have started removing pictures that don’t comply with the new rule.

Inside Facebook have confirmed through the terms and conditions on Facebook that cover pictures need to follow these guidelines.

Covers may not include:
i.    images with more than 20% text;
ii.   price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it on socialmusic.com”;
iii.  contact information such as a website address, email, mailing address, or information that should go in your Page’s “About” section;
iv.    references to Facebook features or actions, such as “Like” or “Share” or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these features; or
v.    calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends.”

This also includes with any images that you wish to use in the promoted posts, the image must not include more than 20% text in the image.

All other images posted onto your page (if you aren’t promoting them) can have as much text as you want.
