Growing as a Business Owner

I don’t know about you but I feel so liberated when I get past things that have previously held me back.

I know this probably rings true for most business owners, but for me, I am my worst critic. Self-doubt (even when deep down I know I am doing a great job) you feel like you may not be able to achieve the things you wish.

2012 has definitely been for me a period of growth and facing my fears as a business owner.

There were two goals I wanted to do this year:

  1. Set up my own online membership program
  2. Facilitate online marketing workshops

To do these two goals it meant facing my fear of public speaking.

Setting up my membership program meant recording videos to teach people how to use programs and then the workshop was even more daunting for me, was getting up in front of a group of people and share my knowledge.

Both of these I was scared about and to be honest I have been procrastinating on both for a long time. I mean a long time. The last time I presented was 2.5 years ago, and to be fair it didn’t go quite as planned (no thanks to the projector that stopped working 5 minutes in).

So it is safe to say that experience really impacted my confidence levels for public speaking… but I was determined that I wanted to do this.

I am pleased to say in 2012, I finally conquered both of these fears!

A few months ago I release Web 101 Club, my online membership program that teaches people to use WordPress, Email Marketing, Social Media and Search Engine Optimisation.

Then today I ran my first SEO workshop here on the Central Coast, for the Central Coast Web School, of which I am co-owner of. The workshop was a success and everyone learnt a lot and had a lot of fun.

I would love to hear what fears have been holding you back, and what fears you have conquered this year! Did you get past them or are they still holding you back?
Drop me a line and let me know 🙂
